Just a few days until we see you in Santa Fe for the 4th Southwest Fire Ecology Conference! Below are some updates and information to help answer questions and prepare you for a great conference.
Registration
- Registration is on the 2nd floor at La Fonda. We will be open 7am to 7pm on Monday; please come pick up your materials if you have already arrived. We’d love to see you at the Welcome Social, 5:30 to 7pm! We’ll open back up at 7:30am Tuesday morning.
Parking
- We have a list of parking options for day attendees and overnight guests on the conference website: https://swfireconference.org/location/
Weather
- We are going to have some chilly days next week; check the weather and come prepared.
Last Call Field Trips and Workshops
- If you want to add a workshop or field trip, do this today so our organizers can best plan for your participation. See instructions here or reply to this email.
Program Booklet and Schedule
- The program booklet is available online, and we’ll have a copy for you at registration.
- Any schedule changes will be posted in the program addendum and updated in Whova.
Whova
- We’ve invited all attendees to join Whova, which has a searchable schedule and networking features. There is already a lot of action in the discussions and meet-ups being planned!

Posters
- All student poster presenters have been entered into our student poster contest! Judges will visit your poster during the poster session and award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place poster. Winners will receive $100, $50, or $25 gift cards respectively.

Volunteers
- Thank you for helping make the event run smoothly! If you have not signed up for hours yet, please do so today; reply to this email if you need the link.
Conference Behavior

Photo/ Audio/ Video Release
- The Southwest Fire Science Consortium, AZ Wildfire Initiative / NAU, and AFE use photos and videos taken at our events for a variety of purposes. The resulting raw and edited materials may be used without restriction, in collateral, on our websites and other publications.
- By attending the conference, you acknowledge that you are in a public place, and that attendees may capture your image in photos and videos. We encourage you to exercise good judgment and respect the wishes of other attendees who do not wish to be photographed. If you see any photos or video that you would like to be removed, contact us.
Preventing Illness
- Please follow best practices and stay away from others if you are sick or have been recently exposed to illness.
